quick question on fixing "high beams don't work" on 1988 4runner
I'm working through forum posts and trying to fix my high beams. The answer tends to end up w/ filing/sanding down connections where the high beams are kicked in. I've gotten steering wheel and plastic shrouds off. I've found what looks to be the connection on the *back* of the combo switch. The switch is still on the wheel column and I'm not sure if I need to pursue removing it completely from the steering post. It would make it easier but I'm trying to avoid unnecessary removal. Old plastic .. stuff breaks easy. First figure shows the front, the 2nd pic shows a small clear plastic box that looks like it houses the connection I'm after. Does anybody know how this little box is removed? Would like to do it in cramped quarters w/o removing combo switch if possible. Or is it necessary to release/loosen up wire connections in order to get the combo switch off the post?
