Code 24 and 31 help me 3.0 95 runner
#1
I have recently bought a 95 4Runner and it had a gnarly surging idle. So naturally I had thought IAC/Throttle body needed a good ol' cleanin. Well I had took the throttle off and took the TPS off and cleaned said throttle/IAC put the TPS on in spec. Well now it wont even start. Unplug AFM and it starts right up but give some beans on the gas and it dies. I get the AFM remanufactured through Rock Auto/Cardone, I slap it on , truck fires right up but still rough and surging. I put it in drive, goes like 7 feet and dies. I jump the DIAG thingy get code 24 and 31. So now I'm stuck. I'm getting fuel/spark. Distributor is in time. Timing chain is in time.

What do those codes have in common? The connector to the VAF. Your VAF is probably fine, but you should test it to be sure. http://web.archive.org/web/201003261...92volumeai.pdf You probably have a problem in the wiring to the connector.

Same way you tested the VAF, just do it from the ECM connector. http://web.archive.org/web/201003261...e/102engin.pdf
[Do reset the codes by removing the EFI fuse for about 30 seconds. These could be stored codes left over from when you changed the VAF.]
