LCE "3VZ Caliper and Rotor" Upgrade. Is it worth it?

I'm going through my brakes right now and need to replace my rotors and probably at least one of my calipers. I saw this set of larger rotors and the corresponding calipers for the v6 truck on LCE and am enticed. At $180/caliper + $140 for the rotor set and then ~$30 for the pads. It would probably end up being about $600 all said and done.

Does anybody have experience with these? I'd love to have slightly stronger brakes but the calipers especially are more than double what I'm seeing the more pricey options are from my local parts store (Advanced Auto).

Would love any advice or leads on caliper/rotors people are using. Thanks!

You don't say what it is you're considering upgrading. Older IFS or straight axle......?????

I did this upgrade on my '87 22re 4Runner, and I like it.

The cost was negligible, as I sourced the parts from a wrecked late production '92 3vz 4Runner.

Any late production '92 to '95 3vz truck or 4Runner should have these parts.

IMO the cost of the LCE parts are way too high. I got caliper rebuild kits from Ebay for less than $25

I just did this upgrade and am a little disappointed. I got the 1 inch master brake cylinder and, stainless steel brake lines. The brake calipers are the older 1988-1992 V6 calipers. You don’t want these. These have the same rotor as the s12(22re). Go to the junk yard and get the calipers from T100 or 92+ 4Runner. You want the calipers stamped s13wb.

Try Amazon and RockAuto for more affordable parts for your truck.

The LCE kit is overpriced. All you need is to go to the parts store and order calipers, rotors, and pads for a 1994 4Runner V6 to get the same thing as the LCE kit. Then you can even use your original calipers to get the core charge refund. To complement the larger bore calipers, you should go to the junkyard and buy a dual diaphragm brake booster from a V6 truck and the 1" bore master cylinder. I've had better luck with used original master cylinders from the junkyard than I have with parts store stuff, but maybe that's just me.
