New throttle cable for 91 doesn't seem to match

Picked up a '91, probably paid too much for it but he did throw in four new mud tires albeit on old rims so whatevs. Also it has a clean frame since he swapped it so the foundation is solid.

Anyway, now to get it on the road ... needs a little work, some of which I'm attempting myself.

Current order of business: fix/replace the throttle cable. It's stretched out and the little rubber stopper on the pedal side is shot. I ordered a new OEM cable from BAM, part #3552035050, sez it fits on BAM and also on parts.toyota. But it doesn't match the one I'm taking out, the new part is way longer and doesn't have the same attachments on the end like the old one.

Am I supposed to make this work somehow? Any tips on how?

If this is the wrong part how do I find the right one?

TIA

P.S. I'm considering replacing the little rubber stopper if I can't feel good about the full replacement. Might work with the adjustment tightened all the way in. Open to suggestions on tips for/advisability of that.

P.P.S. First post. :]

Welcome! That part # says it fits 3.0L 4Runner with an automatic tranny. Is that what you have?

So that's what the ATM means. Thanks for setting me straight. 😬

The guys at BAM were kind enough to help me find the right part for the manual, 78180-89160. Sounds like they'll even take the ATM one back, even though I already opened the bag and ripped off the labels like the good recycler I am. 😭

While I wait for the new cable, I get to work on removing the last of the bumper mount bolts ... the one we ruined while honing our technique for the other three. Plan at this point is to weld a socket to the stripped bolt head. Wish me luck!
