Engnbldr street RV head. Needs new valves

Hey guys. I haven’t posted in a good while. Maybe 4 plus years.

I had head problems years ago on my 91 4x4 after reading plenty of info here and elsewhere I decided I was keeping my rig and it was time to replace the old head.

Lucky for me one of you generous members sold me a head for a respectable price it was an engnbldr street rv head

fast forward to present day. All had been going well up till a week ago. I’m sure you guessed
my timing chain let go. Needless to say it hit the valves. 2 cylinders are certainly hit and bent. I’ve got the machine apart and I’m sourcing parts.

im putting all new valves in but my problem is finding the correct valves. Anyone have any help. ??

while I’m in there I’m putting in a new oil pump
water pump oem head gasket new piston rings and rod bearings.

also new timing cover and guides. I need all this stuff. The only part slowing me down is sourcing the valves.

Any local Automotive Machine Shops ? If you have not tried your local Napa

Does this have the Oversize valves I don`t remember ? No damage to the head besides the valves ??

Might be time to source another complete head and have it rebuilt .

No Main Bearings after every thing else??

this does have the oversized valves. No other damage present.
yes main bearings too.

the only thing stopping me is the valves. I’m certainly trying to avoid a new head. There wasn’t a problem with this one until the piston hit the valves. I’m pretty confident in reusing the one I have. Especially considering I paid for a good head a few years ago. Should have put a new chain in while I was that close. Truck had a new chain installed in 13. I guess I didn’t realize how long it had been.

put the new head on in 18 after checking my notes.

You might look to the builders of High Performance 22R/Re engines to find your valves since the head is machined for them.

You have measured one good exhaust and intake valves to get the correct size??

Why I suggested finding a used complete head and rebuilding.

Good Luck!!

I’m sure those valves cross ref to some other engines and an auto machine shop would have a book of listings.

Still not having any luck men. My engine rebuild kit should be in today. I spoke with redline engine yesterday That’s where engnbldr had his cams made. I think while I’m in here a new cam is going on as well.

bill the owner was going to check with his shop on the valves. If no luck. Well hell. New head it will be.

I found Melling sells valves by size and other characteristics but did not see your diameter listed. Call another automotive machine shop, they will have mfgr catalogs to lookup.

I’m not sure what happened there. I wish he would have.

I ordered a rebuilt head from j^c enterprises. Got a cam from redline cam and crank. Bill is hard to get ahold of as he works alone but he made me a custom cam based off the 268 but tweaked for gas mileage. Rebuild should start this weekend. Hastings rings. Oem bearings. The works. Just waiting on oem head gasket. Never had much luck with aftermarket gaskets but that could have been in my original head likely warped a tad. Basically I should have a proper rig again soon.

I’ll post again when I get back on the road. Maybe add a picture. I’ve got about a grand in parts.

I heard Todd. (Teds son) got a divorce which could have complicated life perhaps. No links on the website to any new website. That would seem like a first step to get a new business rolling. So I think at this point engnbldr is still out of the game.

I will highly recommend bill at redline cam. Again he is tough to get ahold of on the phone. I was a little skeptical sending him money. He charged me 120$ for a cam and 20 to ship it. You can tell the man knows what he’s talking about. After I sent him money the cam was on my doorstep in 3 days. He told me to call back when I’m installing. I honestly probably won’t. But the fact he offered a walkthrough was a kind gesture.

he made all the cams for engnbldr so the quality should be there. Price was fair.
