Chinese Aisin choke staying on
Just bought an '86 2WD with a carb'd 22R. I drove it 500 miles home without a problem, but I'm starting to find all the little things wrong with it. I went to adjust the valves tonight and when I was reassembling, I noticed the electric choke body/motor was HOT even though the truck had been off for a couple of hours. Turns out the choke is always getting power even with the key off. It doesn't seem to do anything either; the shaft to the butterfly just turns freely no matter how warm or cold the truck is. Carb is a knockoff, it looks brand new.
Is the choke supposed to always get power? Is it worth trying to replace just the choke, or do I buy an old Aisin and a rebuild kit?
Thanks, I have a feeling I'm going to be posting here a lot.
