My 1998 tacoma 3.4 manual trans. Notice a miss on the ride home and turned in the driveway and heard a random knocking sound doesn’t sound in rhythm with the motor just random knocking and miss. Almost sounds like it’s coming from the back of the motor. Gonna pull the timing cover tomorrow just in case. Flywheel? Anyone have this problem????

 

Lose a flywheel bolt or pressure plate bolt, clutch fork come off the pivot, clutch disc spring, etc. there are a lot of things that go bump in the night.
