Does anyone know if some 1986's were shipped without

Does anyone know if some 1986's were shipped without air injection, but full egr on a 22re? I was looking at resmogging and I found a list of oddities. My newtome '86 has no catalytic converter, no PAIR/sec.air injection pipes, no resonator, and the intake tube has no provisions for the hose going to the resonator. Yet, it has a complete and functioning EGR setup. Near as I can tell, nothing has ever been bolted to the locations the PAIR system was supposed to occupy. Any thoughts or comments on redesigning or fabricating a workaround would be great so I don't have to buy (assuming i can find) all the necessary parts.

I know that my 1987 5 speed, 22RE 4Runner was built with no PAIR or other air injection, but With EGR and CAT. Build type RN61LV-MSEA

I think some, if not all, '86's were configured the same.

thank you for the build type. Have you had problems with your cat choking without the PAIR?

Mine still has the factory original CAT installed and I'm getting 21-22 MPG with 4.10 gears and 31 inch tires.

If the CAT itself is functional and the O2 sensor and the rest of the fuel management system is sound, there should be no issues with plugging the CAT.

1988 was the first model year that Toyota started using the Air Injection/Air Suction systems on 22R-E engines. Toyota was already using the Air Injection/Air Suction systems on the 22R carbureted engine years before.

Your Truck should have an EGR system and a Catalytic Converter, but no Air Injection/Air Suction system.

My 86 SR5 with the 22RE has no air injection system. There are plates blocking the ports on the exhaust manifold. It does have and EGR and Cat system.
