Always missed my 89 22re and my cheby got stolen, so I found a beater 90 w a v6. Worried about the crossover exhaust pipe issue and added some cheapo vents off of ebay. Later on I was looking for a cowl induction scoop to bolt on and would up motivating the hood to do what I wanted. I used some scrap pieces of 2x4, 1x4, and 1x8. 3lb sledge helped out too! Came out great and I love it, looks factory and subtle. Friggin love this truck, got 25mpg and 312 miles in 4 hours on this baby 12g tank. Was a dog in those reno hills, put in some 4 hole injectors monday and wow its alive! Well more than before
Nice truck man! Always loved those old 4runners! Im hoping the cowl will pull some air down the back of the motor. This thing was a total dog before the new injectors, its pretty damn peppy now and im not on the gas as much. Im sure itll affect the mileage. I was thinking of selling it a few days later it was such a dog, that mpg saved it. That 25mpg trip the truck was totally empty, next trips will have gear.
I have a rear defroster but no switch. Just got a used switch off of ebay, does it go in the bottom right slot above the dimmer?
It was running at about 3kish on the tach the whole trip, except when id hit a grade and hafta hit the ect button and sometimes turn the od off. Jeez it was such a dog in the hills lol. My in town mileage went down a tiny bit w the new injectors, but only had one tank thru and hauled some heavy stuff. Got 175 on this last tank, had about 200 the last 2.
One warning about the cowl hood mod, the windshield washer sprayers are elevated now. The lower ones still hit the windshield, but the uppers shoot over the back of the truck lol. I have to quick pulse the washer button now to keep the high sprays on the windshield. Definitely good when someones riding me arse and I need to fire off some chaff lol. Came in handy on the freeway today, thinking about gettng a bigger pump and hose....
May I ask for link for those vents, and dimensions as well?
I'm considering putting vents through the fender on mine, to aid cooling but not smell the engine compartment when invent mode. I wonder if those vents would fit. Nice to have some finishing rather than just a large hole.
I'm fairly certain you can re aim your washer jets. Just use a safety pin in the top jet. (BMW makes a tool for this that is a telescoping rod with a tiny pin that goes in the washer jet. You then just put the other end of the telescoping rod on the windshield where you want it to hit.) Although spraying the dim wits behind you is kinda fun. I just use really bright rear facing lights.

Yes, the sprayer jets can be adjusted with a pin. Turn it so holes are side by side, not one on top and one on bottom, then aim so they both hit the glass where you want them to.

When I lived in Yuma, Az, having someone spray you from in front might have been a bit of a shock, but without AC, it would be most welcome. Yuma is a HOT place indeed. I've seen 110° F on Christmas day. Highest was 127 one afternoon. It was miserable riding my bike home from work that day. Someone driving along spraying me now and then would have been MOST welcome.
I had taken and frozen 2 liter bottles of water before I left. I even soaked my clothes down thoroughly with a garden hose before I left. Halfway home, I was totally dry, and HOT. I stopped, drank one of the liters of water, and poured the other all over me. I stopped for fuel on the way home, once I got into town, an hour's drive, and passed out in the building when I went in to pay. I woke up with the girl who worked there, that I had been "talking up" as the British say, when I would stop for gas every day, giving me mouth-to-mouth respirations as I layed there. I have been CPR certified since I was 13, and got my scuba license. I never knew you used that much tongue during CPR!
Anywho, maybe the people behind would appreciate a good squirt as you run down the road. Ya just never know!
A PAPER CLIP???
My goodness, you high-rollers, spending money like water on these expensive repair tools. I wish I could afford to have snazzy, costly, tools like that in MY tool box.
Sheesh!
Sorry, my smart-alek side just couldn't resist
