3.slow oil pressure gauge issues?
so i got 95' 4runner 3.0 and my oil gauge has never worked. I noticed the oil pressure sensor connector next to the oil filter was damaged and some ground wires were damaged too. I rigged a spade female connector to fit snug on the oil pressure sensor and repaired the broken ground wires from the body to the frame, I also made another ground from engine block to frame. I started the engine up and no response on the gage? so i checked for power at the oil pressure sensor connector, I'm getting 12v so my wiring is good right? I think my oil pressure sensor is bad .....also not sure if the sensor connection part should spin around? I did some digging through the threads and got this far just need to know if I'm on the right track before throwing 80 bucks on a new oil pressure sensor(p/n 83520 34010). Also I don't wanna go mechanical gauge yet, I'd like to get in some troubleshooting practice to get better at fixing my vehicles.

So the oem oil pressure sensor I ordered on amazon showed up today, didn't look oem compared to the old one but I was pumped to see my oil pressure gauge work for once... so I installed it. No luck, still not reading oil pressure, at first it looked like it was moving but quickly went back past L. I'm gunna dig a little deeper on oil pressure specs, wiring diagrams, and gauge specs. If anybody has any suggestions or knowledge on this issue please reply Thanks yotatechs!

You said it doesn't look the same. Make sure you got a pressure sending unit and not a pressure switch. Unfortunately, sometimes websites mix up the jargon, but the pressure switch is for clusters that only have a dummy light and will not work with a gauge.
