US vs Japanese Trucks

So I had a customer service rep tell me that there are differences on parts for a US built truck versus a Japanese built truck. Is that true? I was shopping for a replacement rear step bumper and they told me they didn't have anything that would fit a Japanese built import truck. Are their dimensional differences?

Completely curious to hear the responses on this one...

A Toyota representative? Or "a" customer service rep?

Customer service rep for the bumper. There was a part in the description that said "fits US built trucks". But I would be surprised if there were dimensional differences on the import trucks. That means two sets of things and having to look at the VIN everytime you need a part

There are small differences in Trucks made in the U.S. vs Japan for the U.S. market, but that mainly comes down to different suppliers and availability in Japan and the U.S.

I do not believe there is a difference for the front or rear bumpers. Dimensionally, the U.S. and Japan built trucks should be exactly the same.

I don’t recall different bumpers for USA vs Japanese. Same frame.

would be helpful to have the first 8 of the vin or model number.

So according to my local source, the stock style replacement bumpers were getting scarce. Since I was pretty sure the japanese vs US trucks were dimensionally the same I went ahead and ordered this one through Walmart of all places. I was $100 cheaper that anywhere else including the other local source who was only going to save me $20 over shipping it from someone else ($80 in shipping)

Its funny, I was just on my toyota parts website and it asked me NAP or JAP for my 94. I didnt have time to try spotting the difference in terms of parts.
