Gang,

I'm struggling with this one. 1997 Limited. Intermittent wipers have been working perfectly for years. A few weeks ago, the intermittent function started to go. Sometimes the delay was correct. At other times, it ignored the delay entirely and just went on steadily.

Now it ignores the intermittent setting entirely. The first notch is Intermittent, the second is on. There is no difference between those two anymore. The next notch is fast. They do speed up when set to "fast." The washer function works fine.

I have replaced the entire switch/stalk assembly. No change at all. It seems like there should be some kind of relay/delay module somewhere but all of the Google searching I've done has revealed nothing. When it was working I could hear a distinct "click" of a relay somewhere back there that was closing to activate the pulse. Now no click.

If anyone has any idea, it would be much appreciated.

To close the loop on this one: It was the wiper motor.

I think technically it was the switches inside that determined the position but I could only replace it at the motor level, switch bank included. At any rate, replacing it fixed the issue. The remanufactured motor was about $100.
