Spun Bearing damaged caps advice request

I'm doing a bottom end rebuild only. That was the plan anyway. Except when I inspect it the bearing had caused more damage than we thought. Buddy says it'll be fine and the caps don't matter as much as the crank. Should I stop and rebuild entire engine or can I get away with a bottom end only?
I'm replacing the crank of course. I'm just not taking the head or pistons out.

Photos pretty much explain it visually.

If it were me, since you're going to be doing, may as well pull the head while you're at it, and check the decking, replace the head gasket, check the valves, if needed replace the timing chain and it's tensioners, check out the the oil and water pumps, and so on. You'll essentially have a brand new engine when you get done.
Might cost a bit more, but, IMHO, worth it.

Just my opinion, of course.

Can you, yeah. Should you NO.

So the pristine surface of the rods is as important as the crank. All those scratches are going to hurt oil flow, where the oil pressure should be inside the bearing suspending the rod off the crankshaft it's now pushing the bearing into the crankshaft.

Not repairing the known damage will shorten the life span of your new parts.

The cost of doing engine work is a factor of time and parts. You've done 90% of the work, now it's really coming down to the cost of parts being the issue. Your call, but don't let a bad choice haunt you. We've all made choices that we regret just because of what we perceived as a unnecessary added expense.

With those surfaces jacked up like that the new bearings wont sit properly(flush & evenly). The least you would have to do is have the surfaces rehoned, but for how much used rods cost it's not even worth it.

Just go ahead and do it all unless youre planning on tearimg the engine down in the near future anyways.
im as cheap as they come, but of you skip it now, its still gonna come back in the long run.

There is ZERO chance that the engine can operate for any substantial time using the rod that bearing turned in.

A good opportunity to ruin another crank, and a fair chance to put that rod thru the side of the block, as well.
