22RE fuel pump/cold start injector Bosch 4 hole spray

I bought an old 87 4Runner a while back in in non running condition. Cleaned the tank and bought a new fuel pump. Fuel pump wouldn’t run on the key so I jumped it and got the truck to run. It sounded like a box a rocks though. So I pulled the motor had it machined and I rebuilt it. I just finished everything up today and have been messing around with it.

I bought the Bosch 4 hole spray injectors. They came with a splice to replace the resistor box.

My issues are:

#1 why am I having to jump the relay to run my fuel pump. What Components do I need to check?

#2 why am I having to pop it with ether to get it started. Cold start injector and timing switch worked when I first fired it off 2 or 3 times before the rebuild and new injectors.

has anyone else ran the Bosch injectors and ran into a cold start issue?

You checked the 15a EFI fuse in the fuse block at the driver's kick panel? Not under the hood, but inside the cab on driver's side.
