Another one for ya'll. I'm replacing my old, cracked vacuum hoses. After pulling the 1/4 inch hoses leading to the Power steering pump off the manifold, i noticed something oily drip out. After digging in under the pump and pulling the hoses, the hoses drained out a nice ol puddle of ATF onto the garage floor. Now, I'm no mechanic, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't belong in there.

Does this sound like a leaking power steering air control valve? Or should I be looking to rebuild the pump itself?

Do you like it when someone looks up the part for you? Sure, but is it the correct one? No way to tell for sure unless we know the make/model/year/engine/trim of your vehicle. Do yourself a big favor by stuffing all that in your "signature." Then you don't have to repeat it each time.

 

I would be cautious about buying the Dorman part.

I don't know about this part specifically, but Dorman has a pretty bad reputation for making low quality parts with high failure rates among professional mechanics.

I would rather buy a used 30 year-old Toyota part than a new Dorman part.

A new Toyota part would be best.

Scope103.... and here I thought the sigs were just for bragging! Good tip, I'll do that. I have a 1990 3.0 SR5 4x4 AT so looks like the one you linked fits the bill

old87yota, I appreciate the heads up on the dorman parts. Def rather buy the thing once if the diff is less than the replacement.
