20r not wanting to idle

hey guys, had a quick question, i recently rebuilt my 20r carburetor and put in a new fuel pump 3 days ago. I did the fuel filter around 3 months ago as well. after driving around 50ish miles on the new carb, my fuel pump went out, but after replacing it i still was having some type of problem. my truck would start and i could get it to idle by giving it gas but couldn't keep her going. I reset my idle and mixture screws again and was able to get the truck to idle and not die but i cant get it to idle under around 1500 rpm. any ideas of what could be happening?

If I had to guess, and I am, check the float level in the bowl. When you're running, does it stay up where it belongs? Not too high, or too low? Especially not too low?

The FSM has the precise level, but I seem to recall it should be right between the two little pointers on the window. Remember, this must be checked on level ground. If it's nose high, or low, it can distort the picture you're looking at.
If not, it could be either adjusted wrong, or perhaps you have a small piece of something in the float's valve. It's a pretty small hole, and wouldn't take much to clog it up.

Finally, double check all the vacuum lines. It just takes one off, leaking, in the wrong place, whatever.

I hope this is some, small, help...
