T4R first gen - Spare tire hoist/winch for alloy rims - chain or cable?

I'm looking for a T4R first gen spare tire hoist/winch for alloy rims. My truck has the one for steel rims, but the base doesn't fit, that is the reason I'm using it with a piece of wood as you can see in this pic:

That solution's good enough for me, it's not visible, I could leave it this way, the problem is the chain keeps hitting the rim.

So do you know if the T4R first gen spare tire hoist/winch for alloy rims has cable instead of chain?

i don't know. my red '87 didn't have a spare, but it had a chain hoist. my white '87 has a chrome spare, also with a chain hoist. my '88 the hoist is missing, so i have no idea what was there.

I don't understand why it won't fit. The center hole and lug spacing are identical regardless of wheel type.

My '87 Runner has chain hoist and stock SR5 aluminum rim hoisted.

I'd heat and bend, or cut that down and never look back.

Maybe your spare tire hoist assembly is from a 2 Wheel Drive Truck.

Not sure.....

My 2wd pickup came with a cable lift, not a chain.

Maybe, these trucks came with a lot of variations.

Good to know that. If it's possible and whenever you can, upload a pic of your spare tire hoist/winch, please.

My 2 Wheel Drive Truck has a factory chain hoist, so yes, there are certainly variations.

I will take a picture when I get the chance.

I can remove the tab, that is ok, the problem is the chain hitting the alloy rim when I drive the truck, that is the reason of my first question:

do you know if the T4R first gen spare tire hoist/winch for alloy rims has cable instead of chain?

My '87 SR5 Runner equipped with Alloy wheels has chain winch. My '95 SR5 Runner equipped with similar alloy wheels has cable.
