Hi guys!
One of the climate control sliders/lever(I don't know its name in English) of my Toyota 4Runner first gen 1988 SR5 doesn't work since I bought the truck. The slider in the top right corner can't go to the first position neither to the last position (first pic)
When I disconnected the cable from the mechanism, I found out everything works as it should, but it looks like the cable is short and doesn't allow the slider to go to the first position (second pic) and...
...the cable cover doesn't allow the slider to go to the last position (the cable loop stops in the cable cover):
It looks the cable is too short.
Do you know how to solve this issue?
It looks like I need to replace that cable. Where can I buy a new one? Do you know its Toyota part number?
Anyway, I could install one I have in other truck until I get the new one, but I don't know how to open the clip (inside yellow circle) that holds the cable cover. Do you know how to open/release it?
Note: The pic's from other YT member.

'fer, you could try to slice the cable cover at the end near the loop to allow more travel, use a utility knife or razor blade and just create a slice along the cable that would allow the loop to "continue upwards". this might allow you to regain the function without taking apart the dash and hvac control cluster.
Thank you Wally.
It looks like the cable broke next to the slider/control/lever and the PO bend the end and re connected it, but the cable is shorter now, obviously.
That was my plan, the slider/control/lever can go to the last position if I slice the cable cover 1 cm, but it's too short to go to the first position anyway, so I have to replace the cable.
I have another cable I can use until I find a new OEM replacement, but I don't know how to remove the broken one, I don't want to brake the clip (see yellow circle in my previous pic) that holds it.
Solved!
I removed the broken cable only, I bought a small roll of 1mm diameter cable, I made a loop in one end and I pushed the other side from the bottom of the cable cover (see pic 2 in my first post) to the climate control slider. It's working perfectly now.
Everything took me around 8 hours using my creepy hands, I bet you can do it in less than 1 hour.
Thank you Wally!
