wow, joined in 2015, and this is your first post...

the cylinder appears to be an oil pressure sending unit; it looks to be using the upper port along an oil gallery. is this a 2wd?

Interesting. Yes, oil pressure sending unit for a gauge, but it should be under (6:00 position) to the oil filter. Is that a oil sending unit for a dash light near the motor mount in the lower right?

Yep, looks like an oil pressure sender, but it isn't a factory Toyota unit.

Ah yeah, aftermarket oil pressure sending unit plumbed in after the filter.

Maybe the vehicle came with a oil warning light, and at some point someone decided to add a secondary gauge.

Thank you for all the quick comebacks

As for why this is my first post, at the time I joined here I fortunately had instant access to a lot of Toyota techs via Facebook and ended up solving most of my issues there. Now I avoid the place like the plague. I'll have to look after work today for the extra light, but this has been bugging me for a while now as I'm not very mechanically inclined outside of what little I've done to keep this beast running. So again, many thanks - this is an 87 22RE under the hood of a 79 (it is 4WD) so I'm always getting hung up in search engines and second-guessing my finds. Thank God I remembered I had this account
