2nd Gen, engine light trouble code 25 & 26

Ok my check engine light has been on about half the time for the last several months. I just was able to get the code out today. code 25 & 26. I havnt seen any other problems. I was thinking maybe oxygen censor but I dont know. Also, this is weird, but sometimes the light seems to go out after I open and shut the hood. Any ideas? ray blurpps@msn.com

That is weird because the 25 is a lean code and 26 is a rich code. I would go ahead and replace the O2 sensor as that is probably your problem.

I had a 25 code and the O2 sensor got rid of it.

I had the same problem with mine. The same two codes came up on mine simultaneously. After many trips to my mechanic and switching out all of the O2 sensors my mechanic just told me to disregard the check engine light. It's been over a year now and I haven't had any problems with it. Knock on wood of course.

Check to see if all the vacuum lines are connected. I had a similar problem a few years ago.
