Only thing I can think of is that it's just a little bit too short, and pulling on it at an angle.

I have been using Advance Auto Carquest Premium wire set right at three years on my 92 22RE with no problems at all.

Yeah the NGK coil wire is extremely long for some reason And yes I have the right part number😹
But I’m sure everyone that uses the ngk has the same length coil wire

Wires..cap..coil..who knows

I had the same problem, 1990 22RE. I pulled the coil wire in half (NKG) while trying to remove from distributor. The wire was actually corroded/fused into the cap for some reason. I checked resistance in coil and it was way off. The cap and wires had 17,000 miles on them. Still don't know why it happened.

Something that might help a little on the install/remove event is some silicone dielectric grease.
A glob into the wire ends before installation will keep out moisture, which may have contributed to the whole "welding it's self in" situation. It also makes removing the wire much easier, so perhaps the effort won't tear the wire up. It won't make it SO easy to remove it slides off on it's own, but...

I put it on both ends of the spark plug wires, regular wire connections, you name it. Works great.

I put the stuff into every electrical connection I open/connect on my trucks, and I've never had a pulled pin, torn wire, or anything like that. I've also never seen any indication of moisture or dirt intrusion, or corrosion build up on any metal pin that I've used it on. Oregon has a much higher moisture content in the air that Yuma did, but nothing yet! I'm going to keep using the stuff forever.

It's readily available in auto parts and electronics supply stores. Or on-line, even. Get a big tube. It seems to go fast, the way I use it

I wish you the best of luck!
Pat☺

+1
Kept my battery connectors looking brand-new without touching them for 2 years.
Also worked well to rejuvenate my old but not cracked door and window seals.
And zippers on my adventure gear.
I use Permatex brand.
