2003 moonroof rattle (plastic)
I did a search and didnt find anything that help me...
I have a rattle on my 2003 from the moonroof. Sounds like plastic.
I can hear it with the moonroof shut or partially open, but not when it is fully open.
I can also hear it when I shut the door.
It is not the rod that controls the wind deflector.
Any ideas?

I had a rattle from my headliner area, and my dealer said I was missing a bolt of some sort from my roof rack. They replaced it free of charge, no more rattles. I don't know if it's the same as you, as I don't believe it varied with the sunroof.

Actually, this topic has been covered a couple times... Probably didn't come up in the searches you were looking for. The rattle has generally come from one of two things: either a missing screw/bolt like pdm317 states, or in my case, from "insufficient lubrication of the moonroof". In either case, take it back to Toyota and have them fix it. I know there's a TSB for the lubrication one, unsure of the screw/bolt issue.
Good luck !

I busted out the WD-40 and has seemed to clear it up. I believe it was the wind deflector rattling against the sun roof (when the roof is shut or partially open). The wind deflector has springs on either side that force it up, when the roof is shut the deflector is pressed up against the roof.
Anyhow, it is gone for now, thank God.
It was not the shade.
