Did I get a bad part? Power Steering Gear Box - Pressure Line Fittings

1989 Pickup, 3VZE 4WD

Hi guys.

So I'm replacing my power steering gear box- ordered a brand new one and everything looks right, fits correctly, etc, except after I filled it with fluid it leaks through the pressure line-in fitting. Not through the threads, but up through the center of the fitting. Upon closer inspection I quickly realized that the port on the new box does not match the one on my original. My original gear box ports have like a conical brass washer inside the threads, Image 1:
The new one clearly is missing that piece (Image 2), and the threads bottom out before the fitting touches anything, so obviously it leaks.
So my first question is- is that conical piece in there something that has to be installed? And maybe I didn't get those washers with my new part? Or do I maybe have the wrong part entirely and that a different kind of fitting?
Image 3 is the picture from the website where I bought the new box- to me it definitely looks like those washers are supposed to be there.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

You should be able to use a smooth, tapered punch, or similar and remove that cone seat from your old box.

Seat the punch tight into the cone seat and wiggle it sideways a bit, and it should come out.

A ha! That worked! Thanks man.

Loosened em with the punch and popped em out with needlenose.

I'm like 95% sure those were not in the box when I got the part, but oh well, this should do.
