r12 compresor oil

1987 4runner a/c compressor oil capacity
using r12 to charge my system that was leaking.
I will remove the compressor and drain old oil
bur I need to know how much and what kind of
oil to replace

compressor oil

thanks for the info.on compressor oil. it was helpful do you know where I can find ( on line) free fsm?

No idea of a free online version, that was a snapshot from my hard copy FSM (used to own an 87 4Runner). A 93 FSM is availaible online: http://web.archive.org/web/201208120...buchanan/93fsm. Some things are the same from 87 to 93.

As far as adding oil, I would lean on the lower side of that recommended range since you probably still have some oil left in the compressor and in the lines, unless they were flushed. Also putting in a new dryer is always a good idea when opening system or if it had a leak.

a/c oil

there was no oil in the compressor, evaporator or lines. I added 7.5 oz's to the system and then charged it up.
nice and cold now. keeping my fingers crossed.
p.s. I found this sight helpful but hard to navigate.
