What is this noise? ‘87 22RTE

This noise just popped up a few days ago. I checked the belts and tension seems fine. I’m hopeful the PS Belt is just slipping? I think it only has 4K miles on it though.

The noise seems to be coming from the PS Belt / Distributor / PS Pimp area.

‘87 22RTE that was fully rebuilt by a guy who did the work for the PO 4K miles ago.

Any ideas?

Metal on metal screech, probably the tensioner bearing, it has a pretty distinct ring to it compared to belts squeel/slippage.

If it was the pump it would be a bit more muted and a different frequency.

Put some oil / grease into the above mentioned bearing and see if it goes away

I think tensioner or A/C clutch bearing. Remove belts to see.

Distributor went out! Now it has a brand new distributor and all is well.
