As if I didn't have enough going on with my 84 4wd pickup ground up resto, I picked a a "few" 4Runners. Ones a 94, purely for parts 2wd auto, and a 92 SR5, can I say loaded? Not sure what these came with but has, power windows,mirrors, cruise control, door locks, sun roof, and best of it runs! And the horn works!!! LOL
A lot of you know me here and I'm going to be the 1st to say " I have no idea about 4Runners" Just bought it to play and maybe get it to the point where it can stand in as a 2nd or 3rd DD.
I have already bought a FSM for it (parts 1 & 2) so I'm waiting for that to come before I do anything. The odometer says..........................467,000!!! Wow The PO I bought it from has no history on it. He bought it from another PO and he bought it from another PO, you get the idea.
So, like I said it starts and runs and looks like all the windows go up and down, mirrors work, not sure about the sun roof, PO put a cardboard headliner in it and it covers it. Don't know why. Tailgate is missing the key window switch and the cables that unlock the tailgate are broken. He did have a connector plugged in so I could lower the window and drop the TG. Only has 1 key for the ignition so I'm getting all new locks for it along with the one for the tailgate window.
Otherwise, the body is is pretty good shape, tires are shot but the 3.0 looks to be untouched and all there as far as I know.
Not quite sure what I want to do with it, my 1st priority is my 84 and getting that back on the road.
I might start a build thread on it, this way I can just put some pics up and some updates and someplace to ask ALL the foreseeable questions.

Got to play a bit with my "new" 92 4runner After I jumped it it started right up.
I have a lot to learn about these trucks. While playing and with the positive battery cable disconnected from the battery, How was able to use the tailgate window and the power door locks? The power window switch and the power door locks worked, how is that possible? I also put the key in the ignition and the dash lights came on, battery, brake, seatbelt, ect. Am I going nuts here or is there another power source.
I didn't think anything would work with the positive battery cable disconnected.
I let it run for about 1/2 hour idled out at around 800 rpm and seemed to run pretty smooth. It least I got the snow melted off it
If there is nothing connected to the positive battery post, nothing electrical should work.
If there is truly nothing touching the positive battery post, then there are two possibilities:
Someone wired in another battery
Your new 4Runner is possessed

I'm telling you it is strange.
I was just playing around and the 1st thing I was doing was trying to get the door locks working with the only key I have, the ignition key. When I put it in the door lock and twisted it the other door locks moved up and down. I went back to make sure that the positive battery cable was still off and it was. Then I tried the rear window on the tailgate, mine is missing the key switch but there is the connector on it and if you turn the plastic ring on it the window moves up and down, sure enough it moved up and down. It freaked me out, and I'm still freaked out until someone can tell me what's going on.
There has to be an explanation, I wouldn't even know where to look for another battery. I thought maybe Toyota in there infinite wisdom put something in the system that if your battery went dead the doors and window would still work to be able to get in the truck.
Mystery solved
When I removed the positive battery cable from the top post on the battery I didn't realize that the battery also has side posts. When I removed it from the top and pushed it down along the side it made contact with the side contact.
I didn't expect side post on the battery...........wow

Yeah, I don't know why they were exposed like that. The battery will be changed out eventually but I will get them covered for now. Got a feeling I'm gonna find a lot more of things like this.
The battery is not THAT big of a deal. Mine is a "Group 25" battery, but several different groups will still fit. Whoever bought that battery probably needed it while in someplace without a huge selection of batteries. Instead, the local store stocked a few"universal" types, which included BOTH top and side terminals. The only disappointing part is that someone removed the caps from the (to be unused) side terminals. Cover 'em up and you'll be fine.

I agree, as long as the battery is in good condition, it will be fine.
The dual posts is just something I don't often see.
Not to sure the battery is good, I am charging it, out of the truck and back in the day, when you started charging a battery with top holes you would be able to see bubbles in all the 6 holes. This one is only bubbling in 3. So, I'll let it trickle charge and then test it.
And yes, you were both correct, it's a Napa battery, just something that was available in guess.
