Holley Sniper fuel injection

Holley Sniper fuel injection
What am I missing? I have found one video on youtube of someone that converted their 22re to this system, but I have not found any 22r’s that are running it. My 84 4runner needs a new head, and I don’t want to mess with carbs anymore in the driveway or on the trail. I am already running an offenhauser intake, so this seem ideal. Thoughts? https://www.lceperformance.com/Holle...-p/1030070.htm

I imagine after $1500 in the kit and adapter parts you could have just bought a running 22re truck/4runner or at least pieced a conversion of OEM EFI parts. I would rather take my chances with Denso and Aisin parts over Holley epsecially if electronics are involved. It won't be as good as efi with injectors for each cylinder either. Still basically a carb setup.

Thanks for the input, but it would be less than $1500. I’m already running the intake they recommend, so I just need to buy the kit. Has anyone had actual experience with this setup on a 22r? LCE says that they have sold about 40 kits so far.

I know the V8 guys were complaining about paring up issues with the ECU and some say little to no improvement over a standard carb. I have no personal experience though. I would review what's available online more than here. Seems like an uncommon upgrade.

Hoping for an update -- did you ever add in the Holley Sniper? What was your experience if so? I've got an '84 pickup as well that I am strongly considering throwing the Sniper 2300 on, but trying to parse through people's experiences with it. Seems to be a controversial modification, but with a lot of potential benefits if someone has the patience to learn the E.C.U. / software
To all the forum purists: sorry for resurrecting a dead one! I at least checked to see that the OP was active this past month and so I think an [eventual] response is likely 🤠 🤞

Disclaimer: I'm copying my original post and pasting to multiple forums so that I don't have to type so dam much.
You probably have it all sorted out by now but for those who are looking to make the swap, this may help. I have the sniper 2300 efi setup on my 22r and absolutely love it. However, fair warning -- there is a HUGE learning curve with this setup. Firstly, you'll need to port the intake manifold so that the adapter relays a smooth transition. More on general setup here:
and here:
That should get you started. What these videos don't tell you is that the sniper will need to be tuned. Holley claims these setups are "self-tuning." That couldn't be further from the truth. Once you set the carb to learn, you'll need to drive around a bit and tell it to transfer what the carb has learned to your base fuel map. Doing this multiple times will start to make your 22r run better although, it doesn't end there. This can be on the handheld or through sniper program on your computer. That said...
You should download the sniper software to install on your computer. That can be found at Holley.com. Same is true for updating the handheld's SD card contents:
Keep in mind that even if you go through this incredible learning curve, it still won't beat taking your rig to get professionally tuned. That's why the "self-tuning" claim made by Holley is a murky claim at best. But if you're dead-set on DIYing this like I did, this video is without a doubt one of the better tutorials out there:
Here are a couple more that were also helpful to me:
Also, I don't have my setup connected to the distributor so the carb isn't controlling my timing. It hasn't been a big deal for me though but you should make sure to have your timing squared away before all is said and done. Hope this helps!
