79 4x4 Wont Start

Hello everyone. I am new to Toyotas. I just bought a 79 4x4 with a 20r with 150k miles.

The good-
New headers
Weber Carb
No frame rust
All original Parts

The Bad
Won't start because of no compression due to a "cylinder seal" (according to the guy I bought it from)
I can see the truck getting fuel and it cranks perfectly. My question is what is my best option to get it running good. I have a decent budget and I was wondering if I should get a new engine, rebuild this one, or do something else. The issue is I live in Montana so parts are a little harder to come by and I pretty much have to order everything if NAPA doesn't have it.
Thanks

Do you have spark? Do a compression test if you have spark

That is good start. Don't know what the mechanic's term was for " cylinder seal", other than possibly bad piston rings not creating the compression needed for ignition

I talked to NAPA and a "new" 20r would be $1,500 and a 22re would be $1,800. Couldn't find any motors on craigslist. Should I rebuild or just drop a new motor?

22RE won't work in your truck, unless you convert your truck to an RE.
off the top of my head your 20R manifolds etc won't match up plus you would need to convert wiring, need an ECU etc
sounds like your best bet would be find someone to rebuild it
