I'm going to be getting a pair of OME Dakar leaf springs, and I want more lift out of them. They are going to be paired with a Blazeland long travel kit up front, which sits at about 3-4 inches of lift so I need about the same, maybe a little bit more from the leafs, so a 2 inch lift shackle would be about right. I know I can't use factory replacement extended shackles because they don't fit the springs, but who makes a longer shackle that would? Seems like all I can find is Trail Gear shackles fit Trail Gear springs, All-Pro shackles fit All-Pro springs, etc. Also, greaseable or non-greaseable shackles, and why?

 

Anyone? I'm looking to get about 4 inches of lift from the OME springs and want suggestions please and thank you

 

If you can`t fabricate a local shop should be able to make them .

modify what you now have to do what you need

Draw up just what you need

im almost always against this personally but if your set on using dakars and not simply switching to a longer leaf (allpro or TG) you could always throw a little block under it.

 

Not dead-set on using Dakars, but don't really feel like going through the hassle of cutting and welding new perches on the frame. I would prefer to keep it bolt on, unless y'all can convince me otherwise. Looking for a good lift spring that can carry some weight, I've got a steel bumper with a swing out tire carrier, a canopy shell, and a sleeping platform in the bed which gets heavy with gear. More of an overlanding style build than a full crawler, so maximum flex isn't a concern. Also don't want something thats going to wear out and go flat after a couple years, which is what I've head of happening with TG springs. A small lift block isn't out of the question, maybe just one inch. Shouldn't have too much trouble with axle wrap with a small block, right?

 

 

Longer springs like All-Pro would handle the weight better than a set of Dakars? Also, probably going to do a slightly longer shackle and a short block unless I end up getting longer springs.

Shouldn't have too much trouble with axle wrap with a small block, right?[i think your right about the dakars handling weight better than a longer spring. longer springs give you better flex, which is not something you said your worried about. also, axle wrap is not even on your radar if your running dakars. if you bump up to some 6 inch TG packs, might wanna consider and anti wrap bar ha. the guy above was right about a small block over a longer shackle, shackles are always a weak point. i think low range has some little blocks for cheap.

 

Sounds like I'll be going with Dakars and a small block to match the front. Anyone have experience with a stiffer rear spring paired with a long travel front like the Blazeland kit? The OME springs supposedly ride pretty good and flex when loaded down, which is what I'm looking for. 500+ pounds in the back regularly and lots of off roading, not necessarily rock crawling but more trail running.
