drive shaft compression distance.

as it says in the title.. I am swapping the trans on my uz runner to a r150 I pulled a shaft from a 97 trd (with a locker in the rear) it fits but only has 3/8' of (shaft)compression left before bottoming out. is this enough or am I going to need to have it cut down? that being said could I just cut the spline portion a bit to accommodate the small amount I'll need?
