Hey guys, new to the forum, but a long time Land Cruiser guy. I found a used Flippac for a ridiculous price local in Colorado, it didn't fit my Dodge so I bought the best thing I could think of without breaking the bank! Its an '84 Extra cab SR5 short bed with 250k. Flippac fits perfect and truck handled the weight like a dream. Girlfriend hates it so you know its good. Unfortunately, I don't have any info on the Flippac since the guy I got it from bought it at a DEA auction here in Colorado for $50. Couple blemishes, but I couldn't beat the price.
I have a Flippac on my Tacoma and I also have an 84 4runner. The Flippac is a great setup. If you have not already looked on Expedition Portal, Wander the West, or some google searches, you should find some good info. The downside to the Flippac is the lack of support from the MFR since they went out of business. There is a rumor that another company might pick up the product. Sway A Way makes some replacement parts for them. I bought a new Torsion Bar, but I have not replaced it as of yet. You will need a Fly if you want it to be water proof. You can buy one from SLO Sails or find someone with an original. I have both. If you want an original rain fly, I need to find a new home for mine. The area of the Flippac where the arms go into the shell needs to be re caulked every other year, more or less. They are known to rust out if water gets inside.
