Hi, I am hoping to get some insight from the collective knowledge here.

1993 SR5 3vze 4WD truck

recently replaced my short block with a rebuilt unit. Have 500 miles on new block.
Replaced all fuel injectors and spark plugs/wires at time of install.

truck runs good but something new that is occurring with new engine is at high RPM or if I try and apply full throttle the truck will stutter and lose power until I back off throttle.

Truck has a history of common symptoms such as the timing not changing when jumper installed. TPS has been replaced and adjusted many times. I suspect my distributor at this point for that, but the timing, tps issue was present before the new rebuild.

The only thing I could find on the forums was someone had a bad alternator that was causing a similar problem as mine.

Has anyone experienced this full throttle stutter before? Any help or insight is greatly appreciated!

 

I have, had a bad fuel injector, maybe you have a bad connector, toyota ones aren't great at this age. Also adjust your idle speed if you haven't done that since putting it all back together, that's using the big screw in the throttle body.

 

Thanks! ok thats a good thought. it really does feel like its starving for fuel, and the injectors is a major component that is different on the new engine.
The injectors are supposedly new, but maybe one is bad...
I had noticed that a number of the connectors have already been changed when I was in there. I need to research how to test them.

The idle screw is another strange thing, fully closed it does NOT choke the engine as the FSM suggests.

 

Mine doesn't choke the engine (it's fully closed now), but it runs smooth and idles around 1100, which I'm fine with. You can test the connectors with a noid light which you can buy or rent.
