How to remove/replace fpr/fpu vsv (95 4runner)

Getting close! Been tracking down all the vacuum lines on a 95 4runner 3.0 v6 4x4, and think I have everything hooked up where it needs to be. Just waiting on a new TVV and get that booger back in place and I'll have all the lines where they sposed to be. I think I have a bad fpr (the second vsv in the line of 3). I picked up a new/used one from the yard, but I can't figure out how to get the old one out. Any tips?

Thanks!

FPU is Fuel Pressure-Up. http://web.archive.org/web/201503060...ne/99fuelp.pdf The Fuel Pressure Regulator is on the forward end of the driver's side fuel rail (the "disk" next to the dashpot in your drawing). The FPR gets vacuum from the intake manifold. When starting with a warm engine (when there is a risk of vapor lock), the FPU connects the FPR to atmosphere, raising the pressure in the rail for a few seconds.

So I haven't answered your question, but the only "failure" of the FPU VSV that would really matter is if it is stuck open. Easy to check; connect the FPR vacuum line to the port where the VSV got vacuum (bypassing the VSV).

Thanks for the info scope103. Fpu passed all tests! Appreciate your help! Just waiting for the tvv/bvsv to come in so I can try to get that installed. Any tips on how to do that without removing the top of the intake?
