Best Lift Set up
I was wondering people's opinions on lifts for late 80's vintage 4 runners. I have an 87, and i've installed some aftermarket shackles to get rid of the low back end, but i'd like to get the whole car up about 2 inches. Was wondering if people had ideas and or experience with lifts to get good quality for cheap.

Yeah definately go Roger Brown...I'll be doing that as soon as I finish paying off the debt that I'm in now.
And yeah, my runner tends to hesitate and sometimes backfires when the word "car" is mentioned around her...

Definetly a truck, NOT a car, my mistake!
My bad about the car remark, should've caught it. I would like to the TRUCK up a bit (lol), but i was looking for suspension lifts, I think. I thought the only good a body lift did was get the body up high enough to fit bigger tires underneath. I have enough trouble getting up anything steep with the size tires i have now, i don't want to get bigger tires if i can avoid it. My dad has a 97 and he just put on a 3 inch OME lift, and that works badass for him, as in a recent trip to Moab, he kept from scraping anything except his hitch. Anyway, thanks for the advice

A bodylift will put the body up away from the frame.
A suspension lift will put the body and frame up away from the suspension.
You don't want bigger tires but want things out of the way?
Does your dad have a button that says "RR Locker"?

Well, i only have the 4 banger in my 4runner, and while it does just fine offroad in low four, it is pretty gutless going on the highway. Plus, i find myself having to give it more gas than others on some obstacles because it just doesn't have what it takes. I am putting on new headers, exhaust and intake, but that isn't going to help much. I'm afraid that if i get bigger tires, i'll be losing too much power. I'm trying to raise up that darn fuel tank.

If you want to raise the fuel tank, get the 2" bl. You can raise the tank 2" after that.
You can also regear to put the power back when you go larger tires.
If you go with Manual hub, you can always leave it locked during winter.
