hey all, i conned my parents into letting me get a body lift, and they said sense my dad has got into his wreck and ive been pulling double shifts all the time and what not that they would buy it for me, we were looking at the summit 3" body lift kit, but it says not for use with airbags, is that to cover there behinds or cause of some technical issue,

and if i dont get that., would you guys reccomend performance accesorys?

what about roger brown? dont know how to get ahold of him or the pricing or anything, would be great to find out.

Rob beat me to it above! I would highly recommend Roger Brown. He is very knowledgeable and a great guy to work with. Just email him and ask him what you want to know, cause he knows! I'm sure lifting a Taco is a bit different than 4Runner, body lift wise perhaps not, but nonetheless, it is pretty easy as I've done both a suspension and a body lift.

Don't get a 3" kit unless you are looking for huge rubber.

The issue with the airbags is likely due to the bumper brackets that would have to be swapped out creating a burp in the bag actuation pathway. Airbag equipped rigs usually have accordian brackets to let the bags trigger over a certain velocity collision. Replacing them with hard steel would likely end badly or trying to make brackets that should work will shift liability.

I have a 98 taco with SAW coil overs in the front. I achieved about 3.00 inches of lift. This being the absolute max of course. I am planning on a body lift (1-2 inches) and a diff drop. This way I can tone down my suspension lift and still clear my tires. Any thoughts.

 

I'd also recommend RB. I have a 1" body lift on my '01. Besides a nut in the bed frame that broke loose while installing the body lift the whole process was really easy and I am not a wrench monkey at all.
