Found a mysterious circuit board in my 4runner

I was wiring up new front speakers in my 1987 4runner. Under the dash on the left hand side, close to the driver's side kick panel, I came across a mysterious, unmarked black plastic box with some wires going into it. I opened the box and found a circuit board inside. I am a total loss about what this could be. I'm pretty sure its not the computer. One of the chips seems to have a Motorolla logo. I googled the letters on the chip but it comes up with nothing. I'm attaching pictures, with the outer plastic box removed. Any guesses???

Where do those wires go? Just a guess, but I'd figure it's some alarm system.

I tried to trace the wires but they seemed to disappeared deep into the dash.

It's definitely not factory, right?

That 2/92 on the daughterboard there looks like a date. I'd say "not factory".

Definitely not stock.

EXACTLY what wire colors connect to it? Include stripe color.
IF you're not willing to dig into the wiring and the truck works, Close it back up, Secure it out of the way.

It looks like there is 2 orange, 1 light-purple, and two white wires coming into it.

Interesting...what does the "black" box look like? I found a little black box in the exact same location. It had a couple manual dials and a couple LED's on it, but I didn't take it apart. Mine ended up being an old-skool cruise control system.

Very interesting! The box looks kind of similar but without any of the dials or LEDs. The mystery continues...

I figured out what mine is! It's called an "OEM Replica Series". Looks like a dealer installed (not OEM) cruise control unit.
