Hey guys this is my 86 pickup. Just bought it last week and I'll be repainting it soon and getting the original decals too. Some interior work and maybe some new rims? These are the pics from the craigslist ad but I'll post more soon .

im planning to redo the interior , find as many original parts as I can. Repaint the whole truck , everything except the engine bay. Get the original stickers too. But first things first, I have to fix this transmission . It pulls hard from first gear, shifts into second and loses power. sometimes also doesnt want to downshift into 1st. But its going to be my daily as soon as i get it running correctly. Hopefully no one steals it

Just updating with a couple pics. I already bought the paint. Im going with the original 033 toyota white in a 2 stage. I should be able to paint it next week.

That's a great job!!!!!!!! From what I hear about California, you better jack it up and take the wheels and tires off of it or some fool will steal it.

 

thanks bud but im safe!! parked in my backyard every night and at work I park in an employees only lot where you need a key card to get in.

 

 

since today was christmas and I had time off I decided to fix my horn and replace the worn out plunger. I also wanted to clean it up behind the grille but it turns that they had painted something black because the core support is black . I dont think it was replaced because a lot of shops dont bother to transfer VIN stickers. I still have some leftover paint but i think im going to try to get a color matched spray can and spray the front the core support.

 

Awesome job. I just got a 1986 turbo manual that is in rough shape that I"ll be restoring. Good inspiration.

 

When you get it all fixed up, contact your insurance company. Get them to appraise it in case it gets stolen. Keep all your receipts and keep track of your time if you are doing all the work yourself.

 

Great advice. Even though the finished product is a long way off, I need to prepare and save receipts now, as you say.

I hear there is software available just for this sort of thing, saw it on a post somewhere in the Yotatech forum. I will look into that as well.

What you want is called "stated value" insurance. You're gonna pay for this, much more than what ever the web quote or agent says " oh it's an 86 toy, blue book is 2k"..

No you say I want 10k(?) if I wrap it around a pole, someone short brakes, or lightening strikes it..

It's the same sort of insurance you'd want if you put 5, 10, 20k into any other classic car (hot rod)..
