Did a few searches couldn't find what I was looking for, I'm installing a vacuum guage and wondering where to draw the vacuum from, anyone have a good spot on the 88 22RE 2wd ? appreciate it.

 

That looks like a later model "straight" intake 22RE?

On my 89, there was a "fitting" that was screwed into the intake. It had 2 or three "ports" for vac hose. One of them was capped. I connected it there.

You want the reading AFTER the throttle body so that you are measuring the INTAKE manifold pressure

Sorry I can't be more descriptive - it been years since I really looked at the engine...

 

Thanks ewong I appreciate it, I'm not sure if the location I chose is a good one but it has an empty spot which seems to have constant vacuum so I gave it a try, the guage seemed to work perfect, with a reading between 15 and 20 at idle, now for some reason it's not working right, has a very low reading and no
response to throttle, it's an old guage maby it died...

 

That's the one. 4Crawler also used that for his vacuum gage.
Pls share where and how you mounted your gage when you're done.

 

i got the harbor freight vacuum gauge, and wedged it in between the ds door pillar and the dash, it's been there for over a year without falling out.

i got some clear flexible tubing from the hardware store, and ran it across the dash and out the hole where the wiring harness is... plugged it into one of the unused big ports on the side of the plenum, it gets a pretty strong signal there.

the only problem with that tubing is that it flattens out... still seems to pull vacuum, but i think what's needed is metal tubing.

 

Eventually I guess I'll see if I can pull it apart and fix it, it's such a cool old guage, it's mounted in a panel right in front of the seat below the radio, all the wires/lines are running through the passenger side footwell area, except the wiring for the guage lights are going up to the dash.
