3rd Gen Pickup Manual Steering
Anybody know if there is a manual steerbox i can use instead of the power assist? One with a more ideal ratio for running without power steering? Here's the backstory before you think I'm crazy:
After much trouble w/ my power steering a couple of years ago (kept blowing pumps and steerboxes) I ended up cutting the belt and just running w/o. After lots of hard wheeling, highway, and daily driving use it's been totaly fine w/o power. I've got a 4" control arm lift and blocks in the back w/ 33s for reference.
Long story short, yesterday after replacing a couple of tie rods, the idler arm, and installing a big son of a b steering stabilizer the steering has tightened up considerably. I don't really want to go back to power steering, becuse I've actually come to enjoy the direct feel of no assist on the highway and off road. I just need something with a different ratio. Thanks in advance

I have never seen one but that does not mean they don`t make them.
They could be made for non USA trucks
Maybe some other make could be adapted to work.
Your fighting your new steering stabilizer !!

I don't know about running it without power, but IIRC the popular steering box swap for the SFA guys is to use a Ford unit. The Toyota box is 19:1 and the Ford box is 24:1 (6 turns vs 4 turns)
Also IIRC using a power steering box as a manual one is less than ideal and might have different ratio compared to a regular manual steering box, so you may also look into a Toyota manual steering box when doing your homework.
