How are you measuring the mph? Your speedometer and tach know nothing about your tire size or rear-end ratio. They are calibrated assuming a certain tire size and gear ratio, which may or may not be what you currently have in your vehicle. Unless you've measured speed with a GPS or some other external method, you have no way of knowing how fast you are actually going.

x2- what's your question???

~3k RPMs at 65mph sounds about right to me for a "stock ratio" of gearing to tire size.

put the rear end on jackstands and count tire rotation vs. driveshaft rotation.
