3rd Gen Moonroof Interchangeability
#1
Need some questions answered about moonroofs for the 3rd gen 4runners. Have searched high and low on this topic and only found anwers relating to 2nd gen, not 3rd gen.
1. How is a 2000 Sr5 v6 4x4(auto) moonroof mounted? This is my first moonroof car, mine appears to be glued on, although I have not seen any like this this in any pictures of moonroof repair threads which has me concerned. Is this a stock moonroof or an aftermarket, or somehow modified? (pics)
2. I had to rip out my headliner because some genius (not me) glued the fabric dirrectly onto the moonroof frame and on both driver's side doorjambs (hidden by the door seals). So i pulled a headliner from a 2001 Limited. I think it'll work, but the moonroof has bolt and bracket mounts (compared to mine which has NONE! zero! zip! nada!). Will try it soon and report unless someone answers it.
3. I also pulled the moonroof from the same 2001 limited, but don't think there is any way at all to mount it to the 2000 SR5. Is there a list of moonroof interchangeability between 3rd gen 4runners or even other Toyotas? (tacos, Mr2 and so forth)?
I had a persistent leak from the moonroof and decided I need to fix it, which resulted in pulling out the headliner. Now just needing to know about interchangeability. Found that 2nd gens are all the same, but is this so for 3rd gens? Is there like a Library of Alexandria for moonroofs somewhere?

Anyone have the answer?
Let's answer this question first...
How do I know if this is a stock 4runner sunroof unit?
I looked in my Toyota repair manual (not the generic, the actual 4runner factory service manual), and the only picture I see is the one similar to the 2001 with the sunroof motor toward the front, not the back, and of course mounting bolts, which mine does not have.
Is this the stock unit or not? Can I put the 2001 Limited sunroof in a 2000 SR5???

Ok, after letting my rage subside for a few hours, I've gone back to look and investigate further and here is what I've found.
My sunroof is an aftermarket made by Webasto. And obviously does not have proper mounting hardware. Next, the dimension of the sunroof opening on my 2000 SR5 is maximum 18 3/4" X 35 3/8". The sunroof dimension of the 2001 Limited is 21 3/8" X 35 5/8", so obviously the glass portion will not fit, the glass could possibly be moved, but why do that?
Now, if anyone who is interested in participating, please go out and measure the dimension of your sunroof opening and report here! I'd just like to see if Limited and SR5 actually have consistent size difference or if it is more random, or sized by year rather than trim level.
Alright, let's get to it!
