Where to get 1990 4Runner Front Parking Brake Cable?
I know it has been asked about the front parking brake cable for 1990 4Runners and others within the same generation. I'm posting this up to see an update to any parts store for a replacement because this is the 2nd time it broke. Since most stores seem to carry only the rear left and right cable, I might have to go for the dealer.

And what's wrong with the dealer?
Dorman makes an aftermarket part, but they have at least three. It depends on your body configuration (not surprising).

Dorman products are often available on Amazon and lots of other places.
Better yet, use a dealer site that starts with your VIN (like http://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/), get the CORRECT part number, and do a simple google search on that.

I just don't like paying high prices for the OEM parts. Example would be the driver side handle on the inside to my 4Runner no longer works because a small part of the plastic holding the metal wire to the door lock broke off. I spent more than $40 to replace an ABS plastic part.

Those clips are so universal (and non-critical) that paying for an OEM part doesn't make a lot of sense. On the other hand, the fuel line crush washers are very Toyota-specific, and a critical item. Even though they're just aluminum (or are they tinned copper?) washers, I only get them from the dealer.
You just need to shop smart. For a brake cable, I don't know which is best.

Big Difference at least to me Between a Emergency Brake Cable and door linkage parts .
You might have been able to get for the mailing costs from some one
For $40.00 you could have had the whole Door
