W56 Interchangeability

W56 Interchangeability

So I have a 1985 pickup 4x4 with a W56A that is starting to die. Can I install a W56 from a 1989? Is there any major differences that will prevent me from doing this?

You would be going from w56a to w 56c IF they are both original to their years.

You can but you'll be switching from top shift to front shift. The console trim might not fit?
