Destination MT or XTerrain

Yes, its another post about tires on yotatech! I'm getting 285's soon, probably either Destination Mt's or XTerrains. To those people who have either of these tires, have they had any balancing issues? I've eliminated the MTR based on that already. Anyone have any reasons to go with one over the other? I am taking into account mileage and on-road handling. I try to stay out of the mud for the most part, but I like rocks and trails. Thanks.

I say try out the Destinations. I almost bought me a set until I got a good deal on my BFG's. I've read a little on them and they seem to be a good tire in the mud and are decently quiet on road.

Has anyone ordered from this place? OnlineJeepParts

I like the X-Terrains but 4WheelParts wants $856 for them installed or $761 for just the tires, which includes the warranty. I can get the Destinations for $742 installed locally.

Try the Destination M/Ts. They have really good reviews. Also the Xterrains don't last very long (so I've heard).

I've had firsthand experience with the MT/R's and the Destination MT's. The MT's are really nice, but a bit noisy. They balanced up very easily and do great off-road. From the feedback I've heard and read on the Xterrains, they are not very good. I've heard people say they chunk pretty easy, don't have very good traction off road, wear fast, and don't ride well on the street. It seems they are more for show than go.

On the other hand, I heard the Xterrains are pretty quiet. But they don't seem to be great off-road as others have mentioned.

So I guess get the Xterrains if you don't wheel much but want to look tough, and get the M/T's if you want to wheel and look tough.

Even though they raise the prices you are still saving some money over the original prices, only not as much.

Oh yeah you may not want to write in CAPS!!!

I have the 35 Goodyear MT/r's.... with aluminum rims.....1/4 ounce of weight on each one.....no balancing issue on them....I have a friend with the destinations...they are as good offroad as mine and basically the same tread pattern....the xterrains as far as I have seen are a joke on the road...very soft tire....good for rocks from what I have seen.....but will not last long

I'd get the MT's, I've talked to the people at the local Bridgestone/Firestone place and they seem to get a lot of good reaction from buyers...XTerrain's seem like they're wannabe wheelers.

I'm probably going to end up with the Destinations, even though everyone I've talked to who has XTerrains loves them, on and off road. Yeah, that buy 3 get 1 free deal has its catch...$202/tire online w/ free shipping, warranty included, + $89 crating fee + tax since they have stores in TX.

I'm wanting the Destination MT's myself, but I don't think they come in the size I want.
32x11.5
Anyone know?

Hmmm... I just checked tirerack.com and didn't see them. Is there a metric equivalent to a 32x11.5??

All the metric ones except for the 28" have 16" rims .
BFG MT it is then. Which sucks, because I just saw my first set of Dest. MT up close today on another truck and boy oh boy were they horny looking.

I say lift it more and fit the 33's

But the BFG's are still a great tire. Tried and true!

They really are a great looking tire, I might get a set this fall and run them
as my winter tires.
They are suppose to be a great tire on snow and wet roads and also wear very well for a mud terrain tire. (Rare)

I'm running xterrains and I love them. They do amazing off road and they are super quitet on road. I just put them on over spring break and I have to say that they are barely louder than my BFG at's. I went up into the mountains last night and they rip up the snow as well as the mud.

edit: As for balancing, it wasn't too bad. Less than a typical 33" mud terrain.

I'm going budget expedition style, not rockcrawling. With 33's comes gearing/stress issues that I would rather not deal with. These new tires are going to be my final major mod. Next comes the little things.

Scofco-

Did you truck come stock with 31's, if so then you have the 4.88 gears and you'd be able to pull 33's...atleast thats what I'm gonna do, plus you have a 5 spd. versus my auto...you'd be able to get those suckers on there...

Just thought I'd let ya know,

Fink
