Salvage Yard 》What Should I Grab? -noobie

When 4r owners dream of a perfect day at the salvage yard, what do they have visions of? Heading out today, maybe more. Where I live is 6 hours from the nearest.

I'm thinking the usual stuff, seats, lights/lens, wheels, bumper, front trim, rear wheel well trim (back piece),mirrors, ....got stock locked diff.

I'm wondering also about the hard to find mechanical stuff that breaks and you need it off a wrecked vehicle.

Front end? Springs and other(?) if newer...?
Maybe some climate control components, all relays and switches...
Maybe Taco parts for front end?

Thanks!

Red face

Get what you need for yourself!!

The bigger heavy stuff and your time pulling it most often puts you in the hole when you do sell it.

Relays are always good to have.

Nuts and bolts, as many as you can get away with for free.

Thanks for all these helpful suggestions.

Great thread, thanks Robert!

Valve shims-Thanks Elow007 I'll look into that. Saw one opened head but nothing that looked like a shim.

Good point Rick. all those ancillary parts are good to have back-ups. I just chased a rattle through about everything on the serpentine on another vehicle. Even with stethoscope was difficult to ID.

Thanks dallison, it's a good thing these yards don't check body weight on the way in. Most ends up as melt, better to recycle or at least decor for the shop.
