REdo Seats??

My 85 4 runner drivers seat is down to springs.

I cant put in a new seat because they all have a lumber support and I have broken steel in my spine right at that spot. It hurts to much to have that pushing on that spot.

I have looked online and it seems everyone wants 300 to redo my seat. I could possible do it myself if I can find the correct foam and cloth but it would not be very pretty LOL!!!

Does anyone know of a cheaper way or maybe a tech write up to redo a seat?? Thank you for your help and I hope I posted this in the right place.

There is a company somewhere in the Northwest part of the country that sells model and year specific material for autos. I cant recall the name of them but the material is not cheap. Some local upholstery shops may have some material that is for the newer trucks then your 85. My local shop had material for trucks up to 10 years old or as far back as 2005 models.

Eventually I will have one of mine reupholstered with something say like a 2005 model Toyota material. They will sell it by the yard and really isn't a bad price if you are willing to settle for less then original. It would require doing all 4 seats to match them up.

Thank you. Im not too worried about the original fabric as long as they don't look too bad. Im actually thinking of going vinyl because cloth stains too quick the way I spill my coffee LOL!!! But I may go cloth and then cover it with a seat cover to keep it nice.
