Valve Cover Gasket ?

I'm getting ready to put my valve cover back on. I have a new valve cover seal. Does the new valve cover gasket simply fit back inside the groove on the valve cover or is it recommended to add a little clean oil in the groove and on the gasket so that it seals better? Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

I install my gasket dry. I don't have problems with the valve cover gasket, but the half moon seals on the ends of the heads will be more of a problem. I use a little sealant on the half moons.

Thanks. I actually picked up a set of aluminum half moon billets from 22reperformance.com, so my troubles with the half moons leaking should be over.
