3VZE GURUS PLEASE HELP!!!
I have an 88 pickup, standard can short box, 3.0l with an R150 I think. Long story short it's outsmarted me and my aspiring tech brain... It all started when I was doing a tune up. I replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and then I went to replace the coil. When I did the coil, it didn't want to start after. Turned out the coil was wrong. Put the old one back in. And it still didn't want to start. It started after about 5 minutes. Ran okay for about 25 minutes as I drive home from my buddies shop, but when it got to operating temperature it started to bog out and died. Wouldn't start for like 10 minutes, then ran for about 5 minutes till it hit opperating temp again and died. Buddy came and towed me home. Got in the next day started right up. Then died out at operating temp. Waited about an hour at the place I was at, Started it up and got it home. Tried to do some diag online and replaced the ect sensor, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, AFM, msd blaster 3 coil and put flamethrower injectors in thinking the injectors were bad, clogging at high temps. But I'm starting to think it's a spark issue. After it does, I still have both spark and fuel pressure. So I'm stuck. Let it sit for about a month, but now I miss it ALOT. being a college student I don't really have the money for a 5vzfe swap but I could find it if necessary. Was thinking it might be an ignitor issue but I'm not sure. Located outside of Chicago. Please help, I'd really like to take it to school with me asap..
is there not a choke i hear it in my 5vzfe when warming up when the idle changes Edit: kids take your dads word with a grain of salt (if it doesnt have a choke)

The ECM controls idle speed and fuel/air ratio while it warms up to operating temp.

Seriously buddy, don't beat yourself up over it. I bought my 89 4Runner a few years back for $300 on it's way to the scrap yard. When I first opened the hood, I thought to myself, what the hell is all of this. Things were broken due to folks trying everything to make it run as a last resort. I didn't know how the thing functioned, what the parts were or how they all went together. I couldn't even find the choke. These folks on here are good natured helpful folks who helped me learn and will help you in any way they can. A lot of forums are full of cocky, condescending guys who would rather make you feel dumb than work with you.
I wish I hadn't poked fun at you about the choke. The guys who have been on here a while know that a comment like mine is just guys giving each other a hard time like you would with one of your buddies. You being new to the site, took it the wrong way and I apologize.
on my 5vz theres a banjo fitting where you plug in your guage on the fuel rail man honestly im fine with it i was bullied 8th grade and learned to have a thick head and to be there for people

That's where I check mine on my 3vze. Front end of my driver's side rail. Pressure should be close to 40 psi. You can really rule out a fuel system if you have the gauge in your hand when it starts to die. If it stays on 40 as it dies, it's not upstream of the injectors.
An all too common mistake for a new member. I think I did it twice and technically just did it again. I don't mind at all. Some of these old threads have a ton of good info in them that I wouldn't have ever read unless someone accidentally posts something to them and it shows up in the new posts tab.
