Guys,
I'm trying to get my 93 Toyota truck back on the road. The truck is solid but seems to have a slight miss during idle, and when I accelerate and release the throttle, I can hear a gurgling sound. Not sure if this is related or not. I have recently replaced the VAFM thinking this is the problem, and it did smooth out the truck, but still have a slight miss.

I'm trying to pass smog with my last reading I had high HCs.

Someone out there let me know what you think.

 

Sounds like your PAIR valve is bad. It introduces fresh air into the exhaust manifold to reduce hydrocarbons and if it's malfunctioning, you get a gurgling sound when u let off the throttle.

 

The gurgling sound could be trapped air in the system. Raise the front end as high as possible and with the radiator cap off and motor running, cycle the thermostat 3 or 4 times to burp out the air.
