3.0 won't start or run with TPS plugged in

1990 pickup. Bought it that way. With TPS disconnected it will start and idle fast but immediately dies when connected. TPS is good and adjusted properly. I've checked 4 pin harness , no grounds and no continuity between pins. Haven't fooled with ECU, yet. With key in the (on) position only the battery icon illuminates. No dash gauges work. Wiring is a mess on this poor ol truck, looks like they've hacked away at it many places with a dull pocketknife. AFM harness was melted to manifold, compressor gone and wires cut etc.
Any help appreciated.

ohhhh, post some pictures, I've had an ugly situation with my truck too, but not that bad. Looks like some mad genius hacked the computer, I don't think the truck would run without a TPS or AFM.

Couldn't get link to load, will try later.
Yeah I can get up to 3rd gear without TPS but no fuel management ...lotta backfire. Keeps neighbors on their toes.

Try loading it on a computer, because judging by the way system works, which is the ecu sends a signal to the igniter, someone might have hard weird a constant to the igniter switch, basically making it run by mechanicaly controlled spark.

Update: Cut out burned wire, checked AFM, TPS , ECU ohm/voltage values several times, a few were off. Replaced ECU and now starts / runs with all connectors plugged in and no blown fuses. Lots more to do....after fishin season though! Thanks for ya'lls help.

Forgot to mention that the CEL is on but only one code, 21 - oxygen sensor. That is understandable because aftermarket exhaust has no sensor port, 02 sensor is missing and pigtail was cut. I've got parts to fix it later but wonder how well this engine should actually run without sensor?
